Students will develop critical speaking and reading skills while
gaining a greater appreciation for Italian culture. Some Italian
course programs may combine studies of the language with other
disciplines, such as history, art history, political science, and
music.
The Italian language is pleasing to the ear, even to those who do
not understand a word of it. It has a musical quality that comes
from the fact that all words end in a vowel, with the exception of a
few articles, prepositions, and foreign words. You'll notice, while
in your Italian course (corso di italiano), that the language
is completely phonetic, which means that every letter corresponds to
a specific pronounced sound, therefore making it relatively easy to
learn Italian pronunciation and spelling
