Qualification for Teachers

In many countries where learning English is taken seriously, you will be required to be certified to teach students and have undergone some type of formal training. The only exception may be in some schools in Central and South America where they will allow any native English speaker from the U.S. or United Kingdom with a college degree to instruct a class using their syllabus.

The downside is the pay you receive without being certified is generally much lower and sometimes on par with beginning teachers from that particular country. Without a TEFL or TESOL certification, you can expect to make around $10 per hour along with inconsistent hours. if you are certified the pay is 50% higher at the lowest level and youmay get free room and board, vacation pay, better working environment, and potential reimbursement of airfare. As you can see, the benefits of training are great.
